Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Nassr top striker
Al-Nassr fans appear to have turned on Cristiano Ronaldo after the five-time Ballon d'Or winner endured yet another trophyless season.
Ronaldo joined nine-time Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr in the winter of 2023 after his falling out with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's arrival brought a flurry of big names to Saudi Arabia in the summer. Fans of the footballing legend had been hoping that a move to Al-Nassr would help him get closer to his rival Lionel Messi in terms of trophies won, however, that has not been the case.
Since Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr, Faris Najd have failed to win a single trophy and they have remained far away from the Saudi Pro League title race over the last two seasons. They have also not ventured deep enough into the AFC Champions League, while the Saudi King's Cup has also strayed from their grasp. Al-Nassr did win the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, the tournament was not an official competition, and fans of the nine-time SPL champions have now turned on the Real Madrid legend.
WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING
Replying to Ronaldo's post on X, and Al-Nassr fan said: "We do not want you in the next game."
While a second fumed: "Go away, please. Al-Nassr doesn't want you."
A third posted: "You've achieved a lot in your history, yes, we know that. You have a history, yes, we know that, but you haven't done anything so far, and we know you won't offer us anything in the future, so please leave the club and go to Portugal, which you've always dreamed of. You'll enjoy it there."
And a fourth raged: "Bro, you’re holding Al Nassr back, please retire, thank you."
WHAT NEXT FOR AL-NASSR?
Ronaldo's future with Al-Nassr is uncertain as the Portugal captain has reportedly been thinking about leaving Faris Najd. Al-Nassr's 9-0 win without Ronaldo earlier this week saw fans suggesting that life could be better without the Real Madrid legend. (Goal)
