Two men have been arrested after police seized heroin worth approximately €3m (£2.56m) in Dublin.

More than 21kg of the drug was discovered in the Coolock area after a vehicle was stopped on Friday night.

RTÉ is reporting that the men who were arrested were a 34-year-old from Spain and a 44-year-old man from the UK.

It added that they are being detained under anti-gang legislation and can be held for up to a week.

Garda Assistant Commissioner for Organised and Serious Crime Angela Willis said disrupting heroin trafficking “remains a central focus” of their work.

“We will continue to target the criminal organisations that operate at a global level with the intention of impacting the lives of ordinary people all over this country,” she said. (BBC)
