Group questions credibility of ex-Rivers HOs Nwaeke's allegations against Fubara

Ex-Rivers HOs Nwaeke

The Rivers Mandate Group (RMG) has raised concerns over the recent claims made by George Nwaeke, former Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, suggesting that the allegations appear politically motivated and lack credible evidence.

In a statement signed by Pastor Godknows John, RMG’s president, the organization expressed skepticism over Nwaeke’s accusations, stating that they seem to align with ongoing political tensions in the state.

“A recently circulated video online has led to questions about the authenticity of Nwaeke’s claims. The footage appears to show him being handed a document and receiving instructions before speaking. This has raised doubts about the circumstances surrounding his statements,” the statement reads.

“This situation warrants scrutiny. A serious allegation should be backed by clear and verifiable evidence, not controversy surrounding its delivery. The timing, setting, and manner in which these claims have emerged raise legitimate concerns.”

The group further questioned the rationale behind Nwaeke’s decision to speak out only after leaving office.

“Nwaeke held a critical position in the administration, yet no such concerns were raised during his tenure. If there were genuine security concerns, why were they not reported to the appropriate authorities earlier?” Pastor John asked.

Additionally, the group referenced reports that Nwaeke’s wife, Florence, had expressed distress over her inability to reach him following his public statements.

“It has been reported that Mrs. Nwaeke has raised concerns about her husband’s sudden disappearance from contact. This adds another layer of uncertainty to the situation, and we urge the relevant authorities to ensure his safety,” the statement added.

The group called on security agencies to independently investigate the matter and urged Rivers residents to remain calm and discerning in the face of ongoing political developments.

“This is a politically sensitive time for Rivers State. It is important that due process is followed and that all claims are thoroughly examined before conclusions are drawn,” the statement concluded.

Somebody some where is trying to use Nwake's frivolous statement to legitimise the illegality in Rivers State. There is no smoke without fire.
