River State is anticipating the arrival of its newly appointed Sole Administrator, Vice-Admiral Ibok Abas (retd), following his swearing-in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Initially expected on Wednesday evening, sources from the police later confirmed that Ibas would now arrive on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, security has been heightened at the Government House, with over 50 personnel from the Army, Navy, Police, Department of State Security (DSS), and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducting thorough checks.

As part of the security overhaul, personnel attached to the Government House have been replaced, and minor renovations are reportedly ongoing, particularly in the Governor’s office.

“The Governor’s Office and his residence were being renovated. The walls were being repainted in expectation of the sole Administrator. Some things are being rearranged”, he said.

Some domestic staff members of the Government House were seen washing the floor of some buildings. (The Nation)
