The Obamas are making it clear they are still together despite a flurry of divorce rumors surrounding the couple.
Michelle Obama posted joint message with Barack on Instagram Wednesday, announcing that The Obama Presidential Center planned to honor Hadiya Pendleton, who was murdered in 2013 just days after she performed at Barack’s second inauguration. The two will be opening a memorial garden for Pendleton, an honor roll student, inside the center located in Chicago.
“She had an extraordinary light that will not be forgotten,” wrote Michelle on her Instagram story, “and Barack and I look forward to honoring her memory through a dedicated space at the Obama Presidential Center.”
Speculation has grown on whether or not the Obamas are facing rocky waters after the former first lady skipped out on two large presidential events – Jimmy Carter’s funeral, and President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The former president flew solo at both events, leaving many to wonder where Michelle was.
Some wild theories have spouted out since then: one even reprising from last year that said Jennifer Aniston and Barack had an affair. Aniston cleared up the gossip in October on Jimmy Kimmel, saying she knew “Michelle more than him.” Meghan McCain, alongside a Washington reporter on podcast ‘Citizen McCain’, also speculated on the pair.
“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” McCain said. “I’m not talking about TMZ. I’m not talking about Perez Hilton... I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true.”
Puck reporter Tara Palmieri doubled down on the rumor, saying: “We’ve heard that for a long time, like I just heard that they live separate lives. (Yahoo!)
