Police Operatives attached to Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State have discovered the lifeless body of a young man along Onitsha/Owerri Expressway.

The discovery followed a distress call from a concerned citizen in the early hours of Monday, January 27, 2025.

According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the victim remains unidentified.

He said that preliminary investigations, including eyewitness reports and on-site observations, suggest that the man was shot in the stomach by suspected assailants who fled the scene, abandoning his body.

Ikenga added: "The deceased’s body has since been deposited at a morgue as investigations continue.

"The Anambra State Police Command is calling on members of the public to assist in identifying the victim and providing any information that may aid in the ongoing investigation."

The Anambra Police Spokesman however assured the public that updates on the case would be provided as more details emerge.

He called on anyone with relevant information to report to the nearest police station or contact the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Awka.
