The executive members of the All Progressives Congress Ward 8 in the Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State have suspended their Chairman, Musa Abdulahi.
This development followed his alleged complicity in anti-party activities, gross misconduct and insubordination, and refusal to heed requests to convene meetings and explain his involvement in the embarrassment caused a son of Okpella and member of House of Representatives, Anamero Dekeri.
He was suspended in a meeting on Tuesday atWard 8, Iddo Okpella, Etsako East Local government area of the state.
The ward executive led by Muhammed Muhammed and 22 other APC leaders in the local government.
In a statement signed by Muhammed and others, the suspended chairman was accused of failing to effectively lead the party in the ward in accordance with the APC?s constitution and in line with laid down principles, noting that suspension took immediate effect.
He was also accused of misappropriating funds allocated for mobilising party members to collect INEC voter cards and collusion with opposition parties to undermine the APC?s operations.
These actions, described as anti-party activities, were deemed detrimental to the party?s integrity and objectives.
The statement read, ?We, the executive members of the All Progressives Congress Ward 8 in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, have suspended the Chairman, Musa Abdulahi.
?Abdulahi is to immediately return all party properties and official documents currently in his possession, and he also warned to cease parading himself as the APC Ward 8 chairman or as a member of the party.
?Failure to comply with these directives will result in legal action as the APC constitution clearly empowers the majority of ward executives to suspend any executive or party member found guilty of actions that violate the party?s principles and constitution.
?This decision underscores the party?s commitment to maintaining discipline, internal democracy, accountability, transparency and integrity among its members at all party levels.?
The ward executive, thereafter, reaffirmed its support for Dekeri, who they said has performed since assuming office.
When contacted, the suspended chairman said, ?I?m not aware of any suspension.? (The PUNCH)
