Governor Soludo
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The Anambra State Government has said that the new Government House will be operational in few weeks, precisely in January 2025.
The state Commissioner for Works, Engr Ifeanyi Okoma, gave the information while briefing journalists on the developmental strides of Governor Charles Soludo?s administration.
He said that the new Government House, which is situated on 28.8 hectares of land, is one of the largest government houses in Nigeria.
Okoma said: ?This is a monumental achievement. It is one of the biggest government houses in Nigeria.
?In an effort to make the state a more livable place, the State Government has awarded 621.445 kilometres of road construction in the last two years and eight months. At this point, 326 kilometres of roads have been completed, while others are nearing completion, with many more projects awarded.
?We are seriously building the Government House, and in the next few weeks, it will become operational.
?In addition to ongoing road construction in the state, the government has also awarded and completed several legacy projects across the three senatorial districts.
?We are taking Anambra State to greater heights, where every Anambra citizen will be proud to live and do business.
?We are building Anambra State to reduce poverty in the coming years. By the end of this administration?s first tenure, the poverty level in the state will be lower, and our people abroad will begin to return home and engage in business.?
Reeling out other achievements by the Soludo administration, the commissioner stated that the government is building an amusement and water park in Awka to provide recreational spaces for the public, as the state capital currently lacks such facilities.
He emphasised that the vision of the administration is to make Anambra State a destination point for all, rather than a departure point.
