Ezeokenwa, APGA National Chairman
The Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sylvester Ezeokenwa, has hailed the court verdict that recognised him as the party?s leader.
In a unanimous judgment on Wednesday, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court led by Stephen Adah, ruled that Edozie Njoku was wrong for parading himself as APGA national chairman.
Hours after the verdict, Ezeokenwa declared that the storm in the party was over with the decision of the apex court.
He said the party has decided to close ranks, describing APGA as an indivisible and united family regardless of whichever roles previously played by members.
?The storm is over,? he said on Channels Television?s Politics Today while hailing the court ruling. ?The Supreme Court came hard on the people it called desperate politicianswho are trying to destabilise the country and the political parties.?
During the show, he also spoke on developments in the party, especially on the role played by Bianca Ojukwu, the wife of the late Biafran warlord, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
When asked if she was still an APGA member, he replied in the affirmative.
He explained that despite her appointment as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs by President Bola Tinubu, Bianca has not dumped the party.
According to Ezeokenwa, the party granted Ojukwu permission to take up the ministerial assignment.
?She is a BoT member of the party to date. She has not resigned her membership of the party. She had that appointment as a member of the party,? Ezeokenwa said.
?I called on the president and I commend him on that appointment. She (Bianca) is a member of APGA.
?The earliest call I made to the president is to ensure now that you have won the election and the Supreme Court has affirmed your election as the president of Nigeria, it is now time to close ranks because the people that can help you achieve your manifesto are not domiciled within your party, you have technocrats that are in other political parties.?
The APGA leader maintained that Ojukwu?s appointment as a minister is a plus for the opposition party which according to him is ready to be part of an inclusive government. (Channels TV)
