The Rivers High Court has granted an interim injunction restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) from conducting elective congresses in the state
The High Court of Rivers State, presided over by Justice G.V. Obomanu, has granted an interim injunction restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) from conducting elective congresses in the state.
The claimants, representing themselves and other APC Rivers State Chapter members who paid for nomination forms, alleged they were denied participation.
In Suit No: PHC/3859/CS/2024, filed by Okwu JoeBrown Ndiike, Peace Oganu, and Samuel Uchegbule, the claimants, represented by Chief E.N. Ebete, alleged they were denied participation in the party?s nomination process despite paying for forms.
The court, however, ordered APC?s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and other officials to maintain the status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
Specifically, the court restrained APC from Organizing or conducting elective congresses without including the claimants; Holding congresses scheduled for November 23 and 30, 2024; Accepting or inaugurating winners of Ward Executive Committees? congresses held on November 16, 2024.
Justice Obomanu issued the order on November 21, 2024, after hearing submissions from Chief Ebete, counsel for the Claimants.
The matter has been adjourned to December 3, 2024, for further hearing. (The Guardian)
