Obosi Development Union President General, Barr Chimezie Obi

The Obosi Development Union President General, Barr. Chimezie Obi, has said that peace has been reigning in Obosi for the past one year.
Barr. Obi made the comment on the occasion of Igwe Chidubem Iweka?s celebration of his Iwaji/Obiora festival, which took place at the Obosi Township Stadium.
He hinged the reign of peace in Obosi and the absence of violence in the town on the concerted efforts being made by Obosi people to stamp out crimes in the town.
Barr. Obi felicitated Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Eze Obosi III) on his celebration of the 2024 Iwaji/Obiora festival, noting that Obiora is a time of peace and a period during which we demonstrate our love for one another.
Earlier, Igwe Chidubem Iweka broke the kola nuts and thanked God for visiting his manifold blessings, which include longevity, good health, and bountiful yam harvests, on Obosi people.
He said that yam Is an important food crop in Igboland; and as such, yam thieves were banished from Obosi in the distant past.
Igwe Iweka further explained that the period of the celebration of Iwaji is a time of peace, for which reason the period is named Obiora.
And as the event wore on, the lawmaker representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Harris Okonkwo made his entrance.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Okonkwo stated his readiness to help in tackling the infrastructural rot and deficit in Obosi, while reminding the people that the chief work of a lawmaker has to do with lawmaking.
So he promised to give the dilapidated Afor Adike market, which is at Obosi, a facelift and upgrade it to a modern market.
He also promised to repair roads in Obosi, which are in a state of disrepair, and construct new ones, as well.
Members of the Igwe Chidubem Iweka?s ruling cabinet, who are red cap chiefs, added verve and colour to the celebration of the festival with their paying of homage to Igwe Chidubem Iweka and displays of traditional dance called ?Igba Ota?.
Among members of Igwe Chidubem Iweka?s cabinet, who attended the event were Chief G. C Osakwe, Odu Obosi; Chief Mike Ajegbo, Ede Obosi; Chief Efobi, Oba Obosi; Chief Dr. Chiedu Uyamadu, Odogwu Obosi; Chief Dr. Odebeatu, Onyaa Obosi; Chief Oguegbu, Ojiudo Obosi; Chief Omezie Chukwurah, Oshaa Obosi; Chief Ikechukwu Onwuekwe, Omodu Daike Obosi, Chief Highman Udemba, Akamposi Obosi; and Chief Okey Mgbemena, Uzie Obosi.
