Kazeem Oyewale, alias Asiri Eniba
National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has dissociated itself from a statement made by Kazeem Oyewale, claiming to be the acting chairman of the union in Osun.
Oyewale had declared the NURTW would vote out Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2026.
Alhaji Moshood Ajao, Coordinator of the South West Elders forum and Special Adviser to the National President of the union, described Oyewale?s statement as unauthorised.
Ajao explained that Oyewale is not an elected officer of the union and lacks the power to make such declarations.
According to Ajao, Oyewale?s tenure as Oroki branch chairman ended long ago, and he was never appointed or elected as a state officer.
Ajao emphasised that the NURTW is a registered trade union, independent of any political party, and has no mandate to influence elections.
The national body has urged members to disregard Oyewale?s statement and continue their duties peacefully.
Ajao also appealed to Governor Adeleke to grant the national administrative council an audience to strengthen the union?s relationship with the state government.
This development comes as the NURTW reaffirms its commitment to maintaining neutrality in political matters, focusing instead on promoting the welfare of its members and advancing the transportation sector. (Saturday Tribune)
