The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, has commiserated with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) over the loss of five of their gallant personnel in a tragic road accident which occurred on October 22, 2024 along the Jos-Akwanga road, near Hawan Kibo, Plateau state.
The CDS, In a statement on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 signed by the Acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, described the late officers as ?esteemed representatives of our nation?s spirit and valor? who are ?commitment to our country?s defence both at home and abroad.?
The statement read: ?The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR has expressed deep condolences to the Nigerian Airforce and the families of the 5 brave personnel who tragically lost their lives in a road transport accident along the Jos-Akwanga road near Hawan Kibo on 22 October 2024. These gallant personnel were en route as part of the Nigerian military contingent preparing for the upcoming 2ndAfrica-Military Games 2024, scheduled to take place from 18 to 30 November 2024.
?The CDS, in conveying his heartfelt sympathies, stated, ?These individuals were not only exemplary members of the Nigerian Armed Forces but also esteemed representatives of our nation?s spirit and valor. Their untimely departure has left a profound void in our hearts and the hearts of a grateful nation. We honor their dedication and service, which stands as a testament to their commitment to our country?s defence both at home and abroad.
?As preparations for the Africa-Military Games continue, this somber incident underscores the sacrifices made daily by our military personnel.
?The CDS reassures that the resilience and courage exemplified by these gallant personnel will inspire their colleagues to forge ahead with their duties in the forthcoming Games, serving as a tribute to their fallen comrades.
