UNIZIKs new Registrar, Bar Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike

Bar Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike on Wednesday emerged the new Registrar of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU or UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State.
She emerged the Registrar after an intensive nationwide search and comprehensive evaluation of candidates by the Governing Council of the university led by Amb Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe.
The appointment is coming amidst crisis that has enveloped the institution in recent time over the position of Vice Chancellor.
According to a press statement by the Chairman of governing Council dated October 23, 2024, said the appointment is a five year tenure.
The statement reads in part: ?This is to inform you that in accordance with the Section 6 of the first schedule of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Act, CAP 139, LFN 2004, as amended by the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions Amendment) Act 2007, the Governing Council has approved your appointment as Registrar of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
?Your appointment is for a term of five, (5) years, effective 23rd October, 2024. The terms and conditions of your appointment align with those set by the Federal Gover6for all Federal Universities.
?On behalf of the Governing Council, I extend our warmest congratulations on your appointment. We have complete in your ability to lead as the chief administrative officer of the university.
?You shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the university EXCO.
?You shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the university except as regards matters for which the bursar is responsible in accordance with the university's Act.?
The new Registrar, an indigene of Awka, the state capital, is a lawyer by profession is the first Awka indigene to occupy such position since the university's inception.
She holds a Bachelor?s degree in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as well as a second degree, from the Faculty of Law, UNN, an LLM in Maritime Law and Policy, and a PhD in view.
