Accused Ivo LG Chairman Emmanuel Ajah

The High Court in Abakaliki on Thursday, granted a fiat tendered by a lawyer, Mr Emeka Uwakwe on the trial of Emmanuel Ajah, Chairman of Ivo Local Government area of Ebonyi State.
Uwakwe, was seeking to join prosecution team.
Ajah is standing trial with eight other suspects: Chibuike Okereke, Mathew Ogbudike, Ezenwa Nwafor Okoro Ugochukwu, Kelechukwu Azubike, John Nwankwor, Chigozie Okereke and Obichi Uzoigwe over alleged armed robbery, kidnap and murder.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Ajah and the suspects had on January. 17 allegedly robbed one Mrs Pauline Osita of her N2 million, phone and other valuables.
The defendants also on Jan. 18, 2017, allegedly kidnapped one Mrs Catherine Okorie and allegedly killed her on January 22 of the same year.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene, in his ruling said there was no conflict of interest in Uwakwe joining in the prosecution of the defendants.
?I find no issue of conflict of interest on Uwakwe joining in the prosecution,? Elvis said.
The judge, therefore, admitted the fiat as an exhibit and adjourned the matter until Nov. 21 and Nov. 28 for further hearing.
Uwakwe, Solicitor an Advocate of the Supreme Court thanked the court for granting his flat application. (NAN)
