Dismissed Deputy Director at JAMB, Yisa Usman, has accused the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, of career sabotage and systemic corruption.

Usman claimed that Oloyede wrongfully accused him of misconduct in May 2021, which he believed was a deliberate attempt to silence him after he raised concerns about violations of laws such as the Money Laundering Act and the Public Procurement Act.

He detailed multiple infractions, including the illegal disbursement of funds and secret staff recruitment. Usman also alleged that his transfer to Port Harcourt, despite his disability, was intended to punish him for speaking out. Despite petitions to several government agencies and an ongoing court case, Usman was dismissed in 2023, a decision he believes is retaliatory and unjust.

Having served JAMB for 26 years, Usman continues to seek justice, claiming that Oloyede?s actions mirror those he accused his predecessor of committing.

Speaking at the National Conference on Whistleblowing, Corruption, and Human Rights, held recently in Abuja, Usman exposed a series of financial misconducts within the agency. He accused Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede of violating multiple laws, including the Fiscal Responsibility Act and the Public Procurement Act.

The event, sponsored by Amnesty International and the MacArthur Foundation, featured representatives from the National Assembly and the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Usman detailed infractions such as unauthorised dollar accounts, illegal cash deposits, and payments into private accounts, violating financial regulations. He highlighted a $20,000 cash deposit into an illegally opened dollar account and the improper disbursement of N120 million and other sums into the personal accounts of JAMB officials.

Usman reiterated his commitment to fighting corruption for the nation?s future, despite facing retaliation.
