The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a housewife identified as Barkisu Sulaiman in the Karaworo area of Lokoja, Kogi State.

The woman, who was allegedly impregnated by one of the servants of her husband, reportedly has six children.

The woman had thrown the newborn baby she had for her husband?s servant into a gutter.

According to reports, the woman took step after the man responsible for the pregnancy rejected it and advised her to abort it.

After her arrest, Tribune quoted her as confessing that she threw her one-day-old infant into the gutter beside her window shortly after delivering him at home because she had cheated on her husband.

NSCDC Commandant of Kogi, Paul Igwebuike, while confirming the incident to newsmen said the suspect took such action because she had the child out of wedlock.

?The crime of the woman is that she had been married to another man, with whom she has six children. The man suffered a spinal cord injury, which has rendered him invalid.?

?Unfortunately, she became pregnant out of wedlock. She later threw her baby from upstairs due to the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy.

?We are keeping her in custody as NSCDC is collaborating with the Ministry of Women Affairs to ensure sanity in our state,? he stated. (Daily Trust)
