The Nigerian Army this Wednesday afternoon, October 9, 2024 confirmed the removal of the Commander, 3 Brigade, Kano, Brig.-Gen. MA Sadiq, admitting that he ?is currently undergoing military investigation into administrative discrepancies while serving as Commander of the Brigade.?

A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said that the former brigade commander was relieved of command to ensure a thorough investigation.

Though the statement did not go into specifics, News Express had earlier today reported that the Brigade Commander was removed and detained ?over diversion of rice palliatives, selling of military equipment, including generator sets and operational vehicles, to scrap yards.?

According to Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army is a self-regulatory institution founded on the bedrock of discipline, justice, and accountability.

He said the army had zero tolerance for indiscipline and would therefore not condone any form of misconduct that could undermine the threshold of its values and principles.
