The suspect, Fatima Abubakar
A 37-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, has been arrested in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State for allegedly torturing two toddlers under her care.
Fatima was taken into custody by the Adamawa State Police Command after it was revealed that she had physically assaulted a 2-year-old girl and a young boy.
The police spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest on Monday, said investigations uncovered that she subjected the children to abuse because they urinated and defecated inside the house.
He said neighbours reported that Fatima, who is childless, had a history of mistreating the children, including denying them food and warning others not to interfere in her affairs.
He said Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo has ordered that Fatima be charged to court for prosecution. (Daily Trust)
