Players face additional risks of sudden death on account of cardiovascular ailments, infertility and a number of negative outcome if drug abuse goes unchecked in their life style, says the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Saturday

Speaking on this, Hajia Fatimoh Abiola Popoola, Commander, Kwara State NDLEA command, addressed players and officials of Kwara United Football Club, while also stating that drug abuse brings the game into disrepute and lowers integrity in the league.

She warned players not to contemplate experimenting with drugs, adding that experimentation often leads to abuse.

She urged the players to avoid self-medication and consult the team doctor for any medical needs, stressing that discipline and diligence are key traits of responsible athletes.

Also at the event was Bashir Badawiy, the club?s General Manager, who explained that the NPFL club has a clear mandate from from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to make Kwara United FC not just a professional club but also a force for positivity among Youths in the state.

Badawiy noted that the seminar provided valuable insights into drug regulations.

Hajia Popoola further encouraged Kwara United players to engage in extra training, drawing inspiration from sports legends like Rashidi Yekini and Muda Lawal, as a way to stay focused and avoid social ills.

Also present at the event where Ismail Ayodeji, media officer of the club, Technical Adviser of Kwara United, Coach Tunde Sanni, and his able Chief coach, Ashifat Suleiman.

The event had players of the club engage the NDLEA boss on matters peculiar to their private life style as relates to drug use.

The event concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between Kwara United and the NDLEA. (Daily Independent)
