By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
Residents of Anambra State were on Friday assured of adequate security during today?s local government election in the state.
The assurance was given by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono, while addressing journalists at the police headquarters in Amawbia.
He said that residents of insecurity-prone areas of the state will vote in local government headquarters.
He said: ?Places like Lilu, Iseke, Ubuluisiuzo, Mbosi where there is insecurity would vote at their local government council headquarters, and there will be provided security and facilities there.
"We have deployed enough manpower in the state to ensure adequate security, and we are assuring people of their safety.
"There will be restriction of movement, and police will enforce it from 8am to 4pm, Residents of the state are expected to take the restriction seriously.
?We are calling the attention of the public, Anambra people and residents as they have always done in the past to come out and cast their votes for the candidates of their choice.
?For us we are on ground to provide security and ensure everywhere is safe and ensure that as much as possible the will of the people will prevail.
?We hope that everyone will conduct themselves with dignity. All the entry points into Anambra State would be blocked and there will be restriction and we hope people conduct themselves responsibly.
?It is not a do or die affair and we hope that everyone cooperates with us to ensure a seamless exercise."
