The Association of Non-indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS) has urged the nine political parties participating in the September 28thlocal government election to demonstrate sportsmanship and abide by the law during the exercise.
It also called on the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to ensure that both sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the election reach the respective wards and polling units on time to avoid disenfranchising voters.
According to the President General of the group, Prince Chigozie Nweke, the organization have in the past two weeks conducted voter education programmes across the 21 local govt areas in the state while utilizing the chairmen in the process .
He stressed that ANSIEC has a significant responsibility to ensure that election materials are delivered to the wards and polling units promptly to prevent any issues with civic participation.
Nweke further urged the Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies to ensure a free, fair, and credible election process come Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Recall that ANIAS recently embarked on a two weeks sensitization programme on voter education for the local government election.
