Governor of Kaduna state Uba Sani of Kaduna State
By GARBA MUHAMMAD, Kaduna
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has confirmed that the Saminala-Marjire road in Samina town, the local government area of the state, has been cut into two by a heavy flood recently.
He said: ?As a result of the flood disaster, five communities were cut off from the headquarters of the local government area and other parts of the state.?
Governor Sani said the state government will take urgent actions to address the plights of the people of the communities as well as the entire Lere Local Government Area.
He gave the assurance through his Chief of Staff, Sani Kila, who led the Flood Impact Assessment Committee team to the area on Wednesday September11, 2024.
He maintained that the present administration is committed to the development of the rural economy.
The Governor Said: ?Aside from the reconstruction of the portion of the road and the collapsed bridge, people of the affected communities would be given relief materials.
?We have seen the level of damage done to this road and the bridge. This certainly deserves urgent attention because we have been briefed that five communities have been cut off and their commercial activities have been seriously affected because these are agrarian communities.
?We are assuring that His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani, is very committed to promoting the rural economy and addressing the plights of the citizens. Our committee will brief the governor on this development today, and we are assuring that urgent action will be taken.
Chairman of Lere Local Government, Hon. Mathew Bulus Gambo, expressed appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for setting up a high-powered committee chaired by his Chief of Staff, saying that such is a demonstration of the Governor?s commitment to addressing the people?s plights.
According to him, ?we appreciate the Governor of Kaduna State for his prompt action by sending a delegation led by the Chief of Staff to see our situation. The collapse of this Brigade has broken the link between Saminaka and so many communities. It has crippled the economic activities in those areas. As you know, Lere Local Government is an agrarian LGA.?
The Committeee also visited other locations affected by flooding within the local government, including Wawan Rafi Village, where a bridge also collapsed, Nasarawa, and Ungwan Shuru areas of Saminaka township.
