The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Victor Umeh, has awarded a total of N37 million scholarships to 223 students from 58 communities in his constituency to support brilliant students who lack the financial means to pursue their education.

Speaking at the event, Senator Umeh said that he is excited to help deserving students achieve their academic goals.

He harped on the importance of education as a tool for fighting poverty, distress and ignorance.

The lawmaker described the scholarship selection process as painstaking, saying that it involved, the clergy, stakeholders, and community leaders.

While urging the beneficiaries to aim high, Senator Umeh shared inspiring stories of past beneficiaries who had excelled in their fields.

He said: "This Initiative is part of my constituency project. I am demonstrating my commitment to honest service and the development of my people.

“I assure you that my support would continue and even increase in the future.”

Recall that Sen Umeh’s foundation has been providing scholarships for 17 years, with over 300 university graduates, including doctors and PhD holders, benefiting from the programme.
