The Concerned Nigerians Alliance (CAN) has faulted the alleged inconsistencies in recent policies of the Nigerian Immigration Service (ÑIS) under the supervision of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller General of Immigration Service Kemi Nanna Nandap.

According to CAN, the NIS under Comptroller-General Kemi Nanna Nandap has turned the Public Service Rules upside-down to rubbish a once-respected and organised system in the NIS.

The group, under the leadership of Dr. Fidelis Ladoke, alleged that there has been series of scandals at the NIS in recent times.

These, according to the group, range from the extortion by an officer at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos, to the drunken officer on duty, and the drug pushing officer – all at the same airport in Lagos with no concrete punishment and sanctions.

According to CAN in a statement, “The disgrace of embarrassing the Nigerian Government in her US trip, where she was holding a sensitive security meeting on zoom in a bus, which attracted the attention of concerned Nigerians that advised her to stop, such act in a public bus with many Non Nigerians on board.

“She allegedly boasted that she has an extension of 18 months instead of retiring on the 10/10/2024, and nobody can remove her.

“The question is this, is Mr President aware of the evil orchestration by the duo of the Minister of Interior and the Comptroller General of Immigration Service in another messy issue having succeeded in all other National Embarrassing issues?

“Now, a newly Promoted Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) that is to retire on the 04/11/2024 is being slated for extension by the recommendation of Nandap.

“The officer by name DCG Didel George Chamlong, NIS 9803 has caused more damage and setback for the service than any other, the Officers record must be investigated alongside the CG because there is a cover up that Mr President needs to blow open to sanitise the NIS.

“This singular act of extension will ruin the NIS and the nation is already suffering the weak links of Poland and Nigerien citizens arrested in protest against the government under the same Nandap.”

“The UK scandal of arbitrary extortion of Nigerians seeking to get Passport in Dollars with protest by Nigerians in UK, I think this is too many scandal to be swept under the carpet by the covering of the Minister of Interior, Nigerians are watching, the world is seeing the degradation of a system,” CAN stated.
