The traditional ruler of Emohua Kingdom in Emohua LGA of Rivers State, HRH Sergeant Awuse, has ordered his subjects to throw their weight behind the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike or steer clear of his palace.

The monarch who was appointed as Chairman of the State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers by Nyesom Wike, was however removed from that position in June 2024 and replaced by Eze Chike Wodo the traditional ruler of Apara in Obio/Akpor.

Awuse was removed as the state chairman of the supreme council by the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara at the height of the political face-off between both men.

Since then, Awuse has barely made any public utterances. However, things took a turn with an amateur social media video showing the monarch addressing some people in his throne room and speaking in a mixture of English and the Ikwerre dialect.

He could be heard saying “Nobody! Nobody! In the whole of Rivers state! It’s him or nobody! It’s Nyesom Wike or nobody? If you know you won’t support Wike go home, don’t come to my house o!”

Though the monarch is a staunch supporter of Wike, his outburst is being interpreted in some quarters as a harbinger of a renewal of hostilities. (Text, excluding headline: Channels TV)
