Factional APGA National Chairman, Edozie Njoku
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chinedu Obigwe, has given reasons why the Healthy Living office of Anambra State First Lady, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, was not sealed by the Anambra State Housing Development Control (ASHDC).
According to him, the office was not sealed because it had secured the necessary commercial purposes approval.
Obigwe explained that the ASHDC enforcement team had sealed off multiple properties at the high brow residential area, Udoka housing estate due to the illegal conversion of residential spaces into commerce without obtaining the required approvals.
He stressed that the action was necessitated by property owners’ disregard for the law and in alignment with Governor Soludo administration’s determination to enforce regulations and ensure compliance.
While hailing the team for their efforts to ensure proper land use and uphold urban development standards, including sealing off a Ponzi scheme office operated by an impostor, Edozie Njoku, he noted that the enforcement team gave property owners sufficient notice and reminders before taking action.
The statement partly reads: “Disgruntled opposition elements that are labouring in vain to politicise the commendable action taken by the enforcement team of Anambra State Housing Development Control (ASHDC) must be told in plain language that Anambra under Governor Soludo administration watch is not a banana republic where everything goes.
“Things that are possible in the past are no longer possible now because Governor Soludo administration is determined to ensure that we start doing things the right way and not behaving anyhow we like.
“If you do anyhow under Governor Soludo administration watch, you will face the full wrath of the law.
“The enforcement team of ASHDC took commendable action by sealing off multiple properties at Udoka Housing Estate Awka.
“You cannot secure residential use approval for a property and turn the property into commercial use.
“Even if you want to do that, you approach Anambra State Housing Development Control for a change of use from residential purposes to commercial purposes."
Obigwe further dismissed claims of politicization, saying: “The action was not targeted at anybody or a political witch hunt, but rather a step towards ensuring that property owners comply with the law.”
