The United Kingdom chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the expulsion of the party’s acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, for their alleged deliberate efforts to undermine the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.
In a statement on Monday night, signed by Dr. Anita Jackson, the group
described the activities of the two PDP chieftains as “treacherous” and “egregious betrayal”.
The statement alleged that the duo’s actions are likened to a “cancer” that has infiltrated the party’s highest echelons, and accused them of working to undermine Governor Siminalayi Fubara, one of the party’s top performers, and secretly aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We are incensed and appalled by the treacherous actions of Damagum and Anyanwu.
“Their egregious betrayal and sabotage of the party’s interests are a stark reminder of the cancer that has infiltrated the highest echelons of our beloved party,”Jackson stated.
Jackson claimed that “the clandestine schemes of the duo to undermine Governor Fubara, one of the PDP’s most outstanding performers, are a clear indication of their allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their desire to destroy the PDP from within.
“Their actions are a toxic poison that must be eradicated if the party is to survive.
“We demand that Damagum and Anyanwu be expelled from the party forthwith.
“Their presence is a festering wound on the PDP’s reputation, and their continued involvement will only lead to further damage and destruction. We will not stand idly by, while these traitors sell out our party to the highest bidder” the UK based group wrote.
According to Jackson, “The interference of Damagum and Anyanwu in legal matters, their plots to derail the party’s progress, and their blatant disregard for the party’s constitution are all evidence of their treasonous intentions.
“We will not tolerate this behaviour any longer. The actions of both men are a slap in the face to the millions of loyal members who have worked tirelessly to build the PDP into a formidable force in Nigerian politics,” Jackson posited.
Consequently, the group has resolved to fight for the soul of the party and restore it to its former glory, saying they will not forget the sacrifices of the party’s founding fathers.
“We call on the party’s leadership to take immediate and decisive action against these traitors. Expel them, and let them join their true allies in the APC. The PDP does not need people like Damagum and Anyanwu.
“We need loyal, dedicated members who will work tirelessly to build a better future for Nigeria.
“Their actions are a wake-up call to all loyal members of the PDP. We must rise up and reclaim our party from these traitors. We must stand strong and united against those who seek to destroy us from within.
“We will not be silenced, and we will not be defeated. We will fight for the soul of our party, and we will emerge victorious.
“We will not forget the sacrifices of our founding fathers, who worked tirelessly to build this party. We will not let their legacy be destroyed by traitors like Damagum and Anyanwu. We will fight to restore the PDP to its former glory, and we will ensure that those who seek to destroy us are brought to justice, the group submitted,” he said
Jackson therefore called on all loyal members of the PDP to join them in the fight against Damagum and Anyanwu.
“Let us stand together against these duo and reclaim our party. Let us show them that we will not be silenced, and we will not be defeated. We are the PDP, and we will emerge victorious” the group stated. (Daily Independent)
