The Labour Party is conspicuously absent at a meeting convened by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) met with leaders of political parties in Abuja on Monday.
Also, the controversy over the recognised National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), was resolved with the presence of Edozie Njoku at the meeting.
Indications that the Labour Party may not be at the meeting emerged with no marked seat for the party among the invited political parties.
Two persons, Julius Abure and Abdulwaheed Omar, have been laying claim to the leadership of the party.
Abure was said to have been sighted at the INEC conference hall, the venue of the meeting before the commencement, but New Telegraph gathered that no invitation was extended to him.
He was seen discussing with Yusuf Danielle, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).
The newspaper was also told that an invitation was extended to Omar, but he did not show up.
No reason was given for the absence. Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman Rotimi Oyekamni, couldn’t confirm if the invitation was extended to the party. (New Telegraph)
