It has been reported that violence has erupted in the Ijesha area of Lagos State as anti-riot policemen fired gunshots and tear gas to disperse a crowd of alleged hoodlums in an attempt to make some arrests.

Independent online sources say vehicle owners abandoned their cars fleeing for dear life to avoid being hit by stray bullets during the commotion.

Socio-economic activities have since been put on hold as traders, residents, and passersby scamper for safety.

Recurring civil disturbances and violent clashes between security officials and hoodlums in Ijesha have become regular happenings in the area. (Daily Independent)
