The Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba has urged officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) tasked with the responsibility of delineating Warri Federal Constituency to execute it in accordance with the constitution.
The royal father made the call when officials of the electoral umpire visited him on Friday in Oporoza, traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Addressing the visitors in his palace, the monarch urged the INEC officials to go ahead with the delineation exercise but, however advised them to be diligent.
It would be recalled that the Supreme Court had recently ordered the delineation of the Warri Federal Constituency which comprised: Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North.
“I have given you the go-ahead to do your work. Ensure you do it perfectly as it supposed to be,” the royal father said.
Responding, Mr Ibrahim Ahmed, INEC Special Data Analyst and leader of the delegation assured that the team would do a perfect work in accordance with laid down principles.
“We assure you that we’re going to do this work diligently, and according to the constitutional guidelines,” he said.
Another member of the INEC officials, Mr Buhari Ibrahim said they would take the co-ordinate of every locality and demarcate the boundaries.
Ibrahim added that INEC would decide on the wards and polling units in the next phase.
“It’s all about identification and beautification of the communities.
We will identify the localities and beautify them.
“Then, we are going to take the co-ordinate of every locality and demarcate the boundaries. After that, the Commission will decide on the next stage.
“It’s going to be credible, based on findings and in line with the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
