The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the list of the campaign committee of the party, issued by the party’s governorship candidate, Mr Agboola Ajayi.
Ajayi, through his media aide, Mr. Sam Ogunmusi, issued a statement on Monday, which announced the appointment of some chieftains of the party as members of the campaign committee of the party
The statement said a former National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Dr Eddy Olafeso, was named the chairman of the campaign council.
However, the party’s statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Peretei , rejected Ajayi’s statement, saying the party had not constituted any campaign committee yet and the announcement was against the party’s constitution.
The statement read, “The announcement by one Samuel Ogunmusi appointing persons to coordinate the campaigns of Agboola Ajayi for the November election is not only embarrassing but a violation of the PDP Constitution (2017 as Amended).
“Articles 46(1) and 40(1)(a)(b) and (c) does not permit of such announcement coming from individuals not known to the party. To such an extent, all the supposed announcements are null, void and of no effect.
“Our party is an organised party and guided by rule of law. At the appropriate time, appointments for the local campaign council will be made public,” it added.
The PDP and other 16 political parties would be slugging it out in the state governorship election, coming up in November 16.
To this end, all the concerned political parties have begun campaigns across the state. (The PUNCH)
