Edo PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo
By CHARLES IWUOHA
The Team Asue Media Organisation (TAMO) has reassured that the candidature of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr Asue lghodalo, still remained firmly intact.
The Organisation warned against “the ongoing wave of misinterpretations and disinformation surrounding lghodalo’s candidature to the public from opposition parties.”
This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday and made available to News Express by TAMO.
The statement reads in part: “We are compelled to address the ongoing wave of misinterpretations and disinformation surrounding the candidature of Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the 2024 elections.
“Clutching at straws in desperation, some unscrupulous detractors, threatened by the overwhelming popularity of Dr. Ighodalo, are deliberately spreading falsehoods that his candidature has been nullified.
“This is a blatant attempt to mislead the public and sow seeds of doubt among our supporters. Let it be categorically stated: the candidature of Dr. Asue Ighodalo remains firmly intact.
“The recent judgement from the Federal High Court in Abuja does not, in any capacity, affect his standing as the PDP’s candidate. The court did not, and could not, pronounce on the authenticity of the primaries that elected Dr. Ighodalo because the case was not within the purview of the judgment.
“It is crucial to understand that under Section 8414, only an aspirant who participated in the primaries has the locus to challenge its outcome. All such “eligible” aspirants who contested the primaries and raised objections have already failed in their bids.
“Therefore, any claims suggesting otherwise are not only false but mischievously designed to undermine the democratic process and the credibility of our candidate. We urge our loyal supporters to remain calm and resolute. There is absolutely no cause for alarm.
“The truth will emerge clearly within the next 24 hours when the actual written judgment is made available to the public. The PDP remains steadfast and united in its commitment to Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s leadership and vision for our state. We are confident that these attempts to derail our progress will only strengthen our resolve.
