Osun State Police command has confirmed the arrest of one Ogunbunmi Jelili for allegedly raping a teenager identified as Blessing.
The police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that the suspect was arrested on Friday at Poyika Adewumi village via Olode in Ife-Sou local government area of the state after he was reported by the victim’s boyfriend.
It was gathered that the suspect bearing a Dane gun attacked the victim and her boyfriend around 8pm on Thursday while the duo was out to buy soft drinks.
A source in the town confided in the medium that the suspect attacked the love birds along a bush path, forcing the boyfriend to run away, leaving his girlfriend behind.
“The suspect, thereafter, forcefully dragged the victim into the bush and raped her”, said the source.
Meanwhile, Opalola said the suspect has been arrested and is presently in police custody at the state command headquarters.
“Yes, he has been arrested and the Dane gun he used for the operation has also been recovered. He will be arraigned after proper investigation”, she added. (Vanguard)
