A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), BubaGaladima, has said it would be impossible for the three northern zones to produce a single presidential candidate in the 2027 election.

In an interview with Saturday Sun, the former national secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), said that in a democracy like Nigeria, voters have the liberty to make their different choices.

When asked if the northerners would pick the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), AtikuAbubakar, former or his NNPP counterpart, RabiuKwankwaso, Galadima said, “We are not in the church; we are not in the mosque. Why should we speak with one voice?

“That is democracy. If you bring three people together, everybody has got a different way of thinking on how to solve a certain problem.”

Asked for his assessment of President Tinubu’s one year in office, Galadima said: "I don’t want politicians to do blame game. Of course, everybody knew that Buhari has destroyed this country in so many facets, but especially the economy and security. Everybody knows that. It is not news. But equally, Tinubu has told us that he was going to build on what Buhari left behind. So, that is the only promise he made, that he was going to start from where Buhari stopped. He can’t blame Buhari. He has already taken responsibility for what Buhari has done." (Saturday Sun)
