There was a pandemonium in Ukpata and Opanda communities in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State caused by the killing of two young men by suspected herdsmen on Saturday.
A yet-to-be-identified student of Nsukka High School was shot at Ukwuakpu, between Ukpata and Uvuru communities.
According to reports, the student was pleading with the herdsmen not to rape his sister when he was shot. The rape victim is now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Another victim fell to the bullets of the nomads at Opanda, all in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
He was coming from Adani to Opanda when he ran into the rampaging herdsmen and was killed in cold blood.
Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area has come under severe attacks from herdsmen in the recent past, resulting in the killing of mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo.
The herders had also killed others in different parts of the council area recently.
