National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Gandujeon Thursday donated N5,350,000 and 50 bags of rice, including other food items to victims of the Kano mosque attack.

Thirty-two persons were in the mosque, located in Gezawa local government area of Kano state for morning prayers last Wednesday when 38-year old Shafi’u Abubakar set the holy place ablaze.

He sprayed the mosque with petrol, locked its doors and ignited a deposited gallon full of fuel. What followed next was a loud blast of the mosque that sounded like a bomb

Eighteen of the 32 worshippers have feared dead and have been buried.

Others who inhaled large amounts of smoke and sustained serious degrees of burns are being treated at Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital, Kano.

It was reported that Abdulsalam Tafiu and Kamalu Sani, who are also victims, were groaning in excruciating pains. The condition of one of the victims at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was the most pathetic. It was not possible talking to them.

Abdullahi Ganduje has sympathised with the victims of the mosque tragedy and promised to rebuild the mosque.

On Thursday, the ex-Kano Governor sent a delegation that visited the sick at the hospital to pray for their recovery.

The delegation, led by Kano Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Abbas, gave N50,000 to each of the seven victims at the hospital.N5 million was also donated to members of the victims’ families in Gezawa town.

Ganduje prayed for the repose of the souls of those who have died as a result of the attack.

Police arrested the culprit (Abubakar) who said he set the mosque ablaze because of “a prolonged family disagreement over sharing of inheritance.” (The Nation)
