Oyo State Government, on Sunday, decried the unwholesome acts of parking vehicles illegally overnight and abandoning them within the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan, the state capital.

The government gave those involved a 21-day ultimatum to remove the vehicles or get them impounded.

The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, gave this ultimatum during an unscheduled working visit to inspect the available facilities in the stadium.

Adegoke, in a statement by the Director of Media and Communications of the State Sports Council, Tunde Ajibike, in Ibadan, the state capital, urged them to comply with the government directive within the stipulated period.

She said, “I want to appeal to members of the public that abandon their vehicles within this premises to remove them immediately.

“The government through the State Traffic Management Agency will impound the vehicles after 21 days. The stadium is built for sporting activities and recreation. It is not a dumping ground for vehicles.

“I also want to urge the shop owners and artisans within this premises to make judicious use of the facilities and maintain cleanliness.

“The government will not relent in its efforts in promoting sports, and providing empowerment programmes to make life more meaningful and convenient for our teeming youths in the state.” (Sunday PUNCH)
