Abia Police Command says information circulating on the media regarding a purported resignation of a Police officer in Abia Command is untrue and misleading.
In anX postdirected at the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Wednesday, an online journalist said Ugochukwu Nwaso, attached to the Abia State Police Command and a corporal in the force, resigned for yet-to-be-confirmed reasons.
The journalist had produced a wireless message from the police confirming the incident.
However, the Abia Police Commandina statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, PPRO ASP Maureen Chinakaonbehalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwumelieon Thursdaydebunked the information, stating, “I still insist that the information circulating on X posted by PIDOMNIGERIA is untrue and incorrect.
“The write-up *INSINUATES* that Corporal Ugochukwu Nwaso resigned from the Nigeria Police Force and is now a civilian due to ill-treatment by police authority.
“Thisis misleading and untrue, as the officer remains in the service of theNPF,up till yesterday01/05/2024. The wireless signal datedApril 26, 2024, on which the writerdepended onisalreadyoutdated and does not reflect the current situation.
“The writer should have gotten in touch with appropriate Police sources beforeproceeding withdisseminating the information.I reiterate that he relied on an outdated documentand thereby misledthe reading audience.
“As at yesterday,1 May2024, Corporal Ugochukwu Nwaso was actively on duty at his division. Anyone in doubt can visit Eziama Police Division to inquire if Coperal Ugochukwu Nwaso is still in serviceor not.
“The public are hereby advised to be mindful of information and their sources,” he said. (Nigerian Tribune)
