The Igbo Renaissance Forum (IRF) has strongly condemned the Nigeria Police inconsistent stance on the establishment of state police.

IRF said it’s believed that the police isdemonstrating lack of seriousness in addressing the country’s security challenges.

This was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by Nze Ugo-Akpe Onwuka IRF’s International coordinator.

The statement read: The Nigeria Police Force’s inconsistency on the issue of state police is deeply concerning and reflects a lack of seriousness in addressing the country’s security challenges of the country.

“We believe that the establishment of state police is a crucial step towards enhancing security and restoring peace in Nigeria. However, the current flip-flopping by the police force undermines public confidence and hinders effective security measures.

According to the statement, during a recent press briefing at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Okolo clarified that his views on state police were personal and not representative of the official stance of the Inspector-General of Police or the Nigeria Police Force.

However, the IRF emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent and unified public position on critical issues.

“The IRF stands ready to support any efforts aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians. It is imperative for the Nigeria Police Force to present a unified front and articulate a clear strategy for combating insecurity,” the statement said.
