France wins U-20 World Cup, Ghana settles for bronze

France minutes ago emerged winner of the Turkey 2013 Under-20 World Cup after beating Uruguay 4-1 in a tough final clash.

The match played in Istanbul witnessed several anxious moments but no goal came during full and extra time.

In the ensuing penalty shootouts, French goalie Areola save Uruguay’s first two kicks, and there was no need for the Uruguayans to finish their kicks after the French boys scored all their first kicks.

In the third-place match played earlier in the evening, Ghana whipped Iraq 3-0 to win the bronze with goals from Joseph Attamah (35th minute), Ebenezer Assifuah (44th minute) and Frank Acheampong in the 78th minute.

Nigeria crashed out in the first round of the championship, costing Coach John Obu his job.
