First civilian governor of Abia State and immediate past Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has been reported dead.
News of his alleged death was broken by US-based journalist and one-time presidential media aide, Jackson Udeh, who tweeted early this Thursday, April 11, 2024:
“First Governor of Abia State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has passed on this morning in an Abuja hospital. Good Night, Dr. Onu. May your soul Rest In Peace. Amen!”
News Express has reached out to contacts close to the cerebral Dr. Onu and is awaiting their responses.
A former chairman of the now defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), the 72 years old Onu was resigned a minister to unsuccessfully seek the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) last year.
