An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded two men at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for alleged armed robbery.
The defendants, Oyelekan Olusanya, 23, a welder; and Godwin Chukwuemeka, 23, a plumber, who both reside in Ikotun, Lagos, are being tried for conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs F. D Hughes, who did not take the defendants’ plea, ordered their remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
She directed the prosecutor to send the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice and adjourned the case until April 29.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Samuel Mishozunnu, told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 2, 2023 at 2 Muri Bakare St., off LASU road, Ikotun, Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendants had scaled the wall into the apartment of the complainant, Mr Idris Olawale, and stole property valued at N725,000.
The prosecutor told the court that defendants wearing face mask, were allegedly armed with knives and scissors during the operation.
Mishozunnu further alleged that the defendants stole an iPad, gold necklace and Tecno phone, all valued at N725,000 belonging to the complainant.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 296 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
