The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped by five places in the April 2016 FIFA rankings released today. They are now 67th in the World, and 14th in Africa, as against the 62nd world position (11th Africa) they occupied last month.
The reason for this cannot be far from the country’s failure to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) after getting a draw and a loss in the last double header qualifiers against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
The top ten in Africa now are Algeria (who displaced Cote d’Ivoire to take the first position in Africa), Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Egypt, Cape Verde Island, Tunisia, Congo DR, Guinea and Congo.
Argentina has returned to number one in the world, displacing Belgium, who had reigned for five months. Belgium is now second, and Chile is third (coming up by two places), and Colombia is Fourth, and Germany, fifth.
