A Teenager identified as Peace Eyuruntela has reportedly drowned in the river Ethiope in Sapele as he was alleged to have been pushed into the river by his friends.

It was gathered that the late Peace Eyuruntela went to Ethiope river in Sapele to bathe and in the process drowned.

An eye witness who pleaded anonymity, said Peace must have been pushed in by one of his friends as he was not a good swimmer.

A widow on Itie Street where Peace lived with his parents, popularly called “Mille”, was perturbed when she heard the news

She testified that Peace had helped her fetch some buckets of water after which he hurriedly left to go somewhere with his Friends. She said she never knew that would be the last time she would see Peace.

Police at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Sapele confirmed the report and said the friends who went with Peace to bathe in the river were all in Police custody for interrogation. Peace Eyuruntela, until his death, washed cars at “2 Wise Car Wash”, opposite Texaco Filling station, along New Ogorode road, Sapele. (Delta State News Bulletin)
