Little Miss Happiness Nwafor has given account of the incident that led to her run away guardian, Adachukwu Cukelu-Okafor inflicting injuries on her body and vagina with hot iron, knife, rod and bottle.

Nwafor, who spoke in a video showing the visit of the representatives of the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, said she incurred the wrath of her guardian for removing her son’s cloth and touching his penis

She said she only removed her guardian son’s cloth to bath him.

Nwafor stressed that since she was handed over to her guardian who is said to be a lawyer, she had severally been molested with several deadly weapons like bottle, pestle and the likes at any slight provocation.

Her aunt who also spoke in the video expressed disappointment and sadness at the gory state of her nephew when she was brought to her by the runaway guardian.

She said she went and brought the girl from their hometown Awgwu in Enugu State after the mother of the absconded lawyer who lives in same street with her told her that her daughter needed a maid.

Her words: “I’m standing in as Happiness mother because her mother is not here. Her mother is my younger sister. I was the one that went to my town in Awgwu to bring her after I was given transport money by Adachukwu (the guardian).

“I live on the same street with her mother and she approached me to say her daughter needed house help, if I could help. I then said I will go and get my sister for her. I brought and handed her over to Adachukwu on January 5, 2023.

“Since then, if I call to ask about Happiness, she would tell me she is fine and there was no problem.

“Then yesterday she called and said that Happiness has started doing bad thing, that she removed her son’s cloth, took his penis and was putting it in her vagina. That if I see Happiness now, I will not be able to recognize her. She then said she will return her to me, I asked if she was coming that morning, she said no, that she will do that after taking her children and back.

“She later came to my shop and when her children alighted from the car, I didn’t see my nephew and when I asked about Happiness, she pointed to the car and said, let her stay there. I hurried to the car and when I saw my nephew, I screamed. At that point I only saw the injury on her face because of the way she was seated. She tied her a black from the head to cover the face. When I told her to come down from the car, I noticed that she was in a lot of pains and couldn’t come down, so I carried her out.

“I now asked Adachukwu why she would inflict such injury on a little girl no matter what she did. She then started hitting her chest and said, ‘the child I gave birth to is who this girl (Happiness) want to spoil’. She had a bottle in her hand and I was urging to calm down. At that point I had handed Happiness to a nurse close by to attend to her oblivious of the intensity of the injury on her body.

“Then the elder brother of Happiness who was with me brought bottle and challenged her why she would do such thing to her sister, she already a bottle at hand, she then picked another bottle from my shop and charged at the boy, saying she would kill him, kill his sister and me and nothing will happen. That she is a Lawyer and knows how to free herself.

“It was at this point the nurse called me and on getting there, I saw the injury and started screaming, she drove off. The nurse said she couldn’t handle it that I should take her to the hospital. Here we are.

“When I asked my nephew what happened, she said she was removing the boy’s cloth to bath him when the guardian started beating her. She said her guardian tied her legs, hands and mouth, put the iron on to heat up and started using it on her, she also knife to cut her skin, rod and pestle to hit her on her legs. She also used knife to cut her in her vagina.”

She however gave Happiness age to be 11 and not 9 years as earlier reported

The Commissioner, Ify Obinabo, while assuring the injured girl that the governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo who sent them to rescue her will take care of her, she promised her that her guardian would be caught.

She wondered why a woman would inflict such magnitude of injury on another’s child saying that no matter her offence, she should have rather returned the injured girl to her parents.

While labelling the lawyer’s action as attempted murder, she assured that she would be caught to face the law.

Obinabo further presented some gift items (beverages) to Happiness aunt, promising that government will take care of her nephew and that no matter the distance the guardian ran to, she will work to ensure she is caught.
