•AIG Danladi Lalas leads operation on Kaduna-Abuja highway
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, yesterday, Friday, January 12, 2024, moved to clip the wings of bandits and kidnappers terrorising the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
“The IGP has unleashed police helicopters on these undesirable elements making life difficult for innocent travellers,” a close source toldNews Express.
The source disclosed that Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Police Airwing, AIG Danladi Lalas, “led other pilots in monitoring Kaduna-Abuja highway while other pilots are using drones to track the bandits and kidnappers.”
“They were in the air all afternoon roving the highway and the bushes,” the source added.
News Express could not confirm if any bandit or kidnapper had been either arrested or neutralised by the team as at last night.
Recent reports had spoken of a resurgence of banditry and kidnapping on Kaduna-Abuja highway, forcing the IGP to change tactics in the war against the hoodlums by deploying the Police Airwing to the notorious route.
