A prominent Islamic scholar and the Leader of the Tijjaniyyah sect in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has denied writing a letter of caution to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kayode Ariwoola on Kano State governorship election petition pending before the Supreme Court.

He described the letter as fake and distanced himself from the politics of Kano and that he has no objections as to who wins the governorship case at the Supreme Court.

The letter was purported to have warned the Supreme Court not to do anything that would jeopardize peace in the state, saying from all indications, the people of Kano State elected Architect Kabiru Yusuf to lead them.

The Sheikh in an interview with his son Sheikh Bashir Dahiru Usman Bauchi on BBC Hausa service on Sunday 24^thDecember, 2023, said the viral letter circulating in social media is fake and that his father did not write it and is not aware of the letter.

“We also read it in the social media just like any other person.

“It’s not the sheikh that wrote the letter.

“Sheikh is not from Kano and has no business with politics of Kano or anywhere in Nigeria.

“Sheikh has no objections as to who wins in court,” Sheikh Bashir stated.

The fiery Islamic scholar in the fake letter stated that the Supreme Court should as a matter of justice and the need to preserve peace allow the will of the people of the state to stand.

The fake letter maintained that anything short of this would be an open invitation to chaos and anarchy which the current security architecture in the country would not be able to contain.
