In line with Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s plan to transform the state to a mega city, the Awka Capital Territory Development Authoriy (ACTDA) on Tuesday issued sack notice to people selling or displaying goods and wears along the road side within the Awka metropolis.

It warned that anyone failing to comply will face the full wrath of the law.

The Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Authority, Mr. Ossy Onuko, issued the order while speaking to journalists in Awka. He noted that the authority had regrettably observed the resurface of street traders especially along the new roads constructed by Gov Soludo within Awka metropolis.

He explained that the authority had for the past one year continued an onslaught against the street traders who are causing obstruction and gridlock within the city even as he maintained that the activities of the outlaws have defaced the aesthetics of the new road built by the state government.

Onuko mentioned the areas where the activities of street traders have increased in recent times to include the dual carriage Unizik-Isuaniocha Road, Club Road, Regina Ceali Road, Old INEC Road, Government House Road and Aroma, Ifite Road amongst others.

He said: “From this Friday, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority officials will commence a massive destruction of goods and wears which are found to be displayed along the road.

“Those engaging in the illegal act are advised to stop immediately as the authority will not only seize, but rather destroy such goods to serve as a deterrent to others.”

The ACTDA CEO further warmed Offenders urging them to immediately evacuate their goods and services or be ready to suffer the consequences of their inactions.
