Ninety-two days after embattled Isese activist, Abdulazeez Adegbola, known as Tani Olohun, was remanded at the Okekura Correctional Facility in Ilorin, Kwara state, he has finally regained his freedom.

Adegbola was first arrested on August 16for alleged criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, disturbance of public peace, criminal defamation of character, and intentional insult.

The 37-year-old was again in October and November slammed with new charges bordering on defamation and burning of a Quran.

On November 16, 2023, Adegbola was granted bail by Magistrate Adam in the sum of N2 million and three sureties in the like sum.

A representative of the Isese Welfare Association,Ifálétí Ajíbòrìṣà, told our correspondent what it took to secure Adegbola’s bail on Friday, November 17, 2023.

He said, “Concerning the bail application, the process and the perfection, the court demanded two categories of bail applications because he was paraded for two cases: defamation of character and an allegation of inciting public violence religious breach.

“In the first case, the judge demanded that he provide three sureties: two sureties must own landed properties alongside the provision of N2m in like sum, and one surety must be a community leader in either Kwara or Oyo State.

“We met the bail terms, and they were approved. The sureties were thoroughly screened before they were approved. We left the facility around 6.42 pm.”

Adegbola also spoke with our correspondent first, appreciating Ifa for the grace bestowed on him.

“I’ll like to first appreciate Ifa for the grace bestowed on me. I am just glad we were able to meet the bail terms. I cannot share so much now as I want to heal first.

“I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers. May Ifa bless us all,” he said. (Saturday PUNCH)
